The official geocaching website recently announced the GIFF (Geocaching International Film Festival).
This means it’s time to start planning if you are considering an entry. While there is some time until the festival which is being held on Saturday, August 17th, there is a current call for entries with a deadline of July 7th.
Not much of a filmmaker?
There are plenty of aspiring directors and the like in the Boston area – college students included. For example, Emerson College’s School of the Arts – Visual and Media Arts – is a popular program full of students looking for that next interesting film project to build their reel. Have a great geocaching adventure, story, or drama to pitch to them for a film? Give them a shout!
Free Comic Book happened today – while we were out and about we hit a few of our favorite shops for the freebies, and our weekly purchases – here’s some of what we brought home…
Beware the Batman
Aimed towards younger kids, this short Batman story, based on the Cartoon Network show follows our favorite bat hero as he battles thugs on a boat dock, with the fearsome foe Anarky planning something evil……
Buck Rogers 25th Century A.D.
One of the original all-time greats from the science fiction vaults joined free comic book day courtesy of Hermes Press. Two fully restored Sunday stories with Buck Rogers and Wilma Deering make up this comic.
Damsels Mermaids
Damsels, which focuses on the adventures of female fairy tale characters offers a short story where the Little Mermaid has been captured!
Grimm
Beginning with a werewolf wedding, this short story is a prequel to the Dynamite comic series Grimm, which is in stores the week of May 6th. It follows Nick Burkhardt, as he looks into the case of a missing werewolf bride and groom.
Judge Dredd Classics
In this new Dredd comic, we see a few of Dredd’s run ins with the ultimate foe, Judge Death. Presumably, taken from a few of the older Eagle Comic’s Dredd books, this book is full of newly colored comic articles featuring some of the original Judge Dredd stories.
Smurfs
This Smurfin’ good comic features two new stories featuring those classic blue elves. With these stories never being released in the U.S, it is interesting to read and enjoy the classic mood of the Smurfs.
The Steam Engines of Oz
The Wicked Witch has now been dead for 100 years and a rebellion is upon the land of Oz to fight the status quo – all in newly imagined steampunk style from Steampunk Originals.
The Walking Dead
Likely the comic with the highest demand on free comic book day, this one contains some already available material from both the Governor and Michonne Specials. To keep things fresh, however, there are a few pages dedicated to Tyreese and Morgan thrown in as well.
Ugly Doll Comics
The popular line of stuffed dolls entered the world of comics with it’s first short being handed out on free comic book day. As part of the Viz Kids Comic Sampler, this one also has some Hello Kitty and Pokemon content as well.
World of Archie Digest
The only comic available in digest size for the day – this one includes some great humorous shorts featuring Archie, Jughead, Betty & Veronica, Joise & the Pussy Cats, and more.
