
The Orange Fantam
🍊 Ingredients
- 2 packages of yellow cake mix
- 10 oz orange Fanta soda
- 1–2 tablespoons mandarin orange peel (finely shaved/zested)
- 2 cans vanilla frosting
- 1–2 teaspoons mandarin zest (for frosting)
- 1–2 fresh mandarins (for optional juice step)
🥣 Instructions
- Preheat oven
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare your pan
- Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Prep the mandarin peel
- Wash mandarins thoroughly.
- Zest the outer peel only (avoid the white pith).
- Combine ingredients
- In a large bowl, add:
- 2 packages yellow cake mix
- 10 oz orange Fanta
- 1–2 tablespoons mandarin zest
- In a large bowl, add:
- Whisk the mixture
- Mix until smooth and lump-free.
- Batter may fizz slightly—this is normal.
- Pour into pan
- Spread evenly in your prepared pan.
- Bake
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool
- Let the cake cool completely (20–30 minutes).
- Optional citrus soak step ⭐
- Gently squeeze fresh mandarin juice evenly over the cooled cake (I usually only do one mandarin).
- Let it soak in and dry slightly (about 5–10 minutes).
- This adds extra moisture and boosts citrus flavor.
- Prepare the frosting
- Mix:
- 2 cans vanilla frosting
- 1–2 teaspoons mandarin zest
- Stir until smooth and evenly combined.
- Frost the cake
- Spread the frosting evenly over the cake.
- Serve
- Slice and enjoy your rich, citrus-packed dessert!
